Schedule To Rock.

HeyHeyHey! This is my last journal for the week and I wanted to tell you guys that I have a little "project" if you want to call it like that planned. I'm going to 3 concerts of really cool bands and I think that would inspire me for my project. So I'm going to their concert with a different perspective, I'm writing a review on them so I will pay attention to every little detail and I will try to interview them actually.

The Bands I'll see are:

A Day To Remember (they are everywhere lately)
Bring Me The Horizon
Rise Against

And Finally next Saturday I'll be going to "The Next Big Thing" a concert in the venue Revolution where some of my friends are playing.

See Ya later!!

LA In Two Weeks Baby!!!

I'm very glad to tell you that I will be going to Los Angeles, California for this Spring Break. There I will be recording with my brother a song ( which I still don't know) but I can assure It will be awesome. I'm practicing a lot and am very excited for the future.

Also I have I want to tell you that I am ( Well, I hope I will ) finally going to be taught about MIDI Drumming (which is creating fake drum beats on the computer which are supposed to sound real) My friend Jose Jankunas and I had a conversation on the phone about it, he gave me some advice on different programs and we came to the conclusion that EZ Drummer is the best for my actual situation. We will be meeting soon to get more into detail and maybe start the lesson on the program.

Acoustic Set

This is the Acoustic Guitar that my friend Juan Diego let me borrow :D its pretty a cool guitar if you consider its price, he got it just for a hundred dollars!! I don't know how he managed to find that deal, but that's nice. I haven't written on my blog this week, so I'm going to tell you the best stuff of my week on 3 separate posts one for today, another one tomorrow, and finally the third one on Sunday.

Well I want to tell you about my experience on the acoustic guitar! I am convinced, I'm buying one, I almost have all of the money already. I did not remember how cool it felt to play acoustic! and its really cool to help you sing along with the songs! I tried to record Slipknot's Snuff, the best acoustic song by the band in my opinion, but I sincerely don't know what happened, it sounded like if I had recorded it from my phones mic. I tried and tried to see what happens and I could not do anything about it! I called my brother and we could not really figure out without him being present what was going on, so either I have to figure it out my self, or get help on that from someone else.

F.A.I.L!

God... I had a fail moment today, so this is what happened....
I decided I wanted to record a new cover of the song Misery Business, by one of my favorite bands, Paramore (The song is pretty well-known actually).
I recorded the guitars first over the original track on Garageband, I recorded two separate guitar tracks, each playing exactly what both guitars play on the record, meaning that it would sound way more professional, but in order to make a video to upload on Youtube, I would have to record two separate videos of me playing each part and then put it together... and that's where it got complicated.

I used iMovie to record both videos (Again, I recorded two clips showing exactly what I played for that guitar track) I thought there was some sort of plug-in that put to clips on one screen (just one video) but it didn't, I looked on Youtube for tutorials, on websites, and nope, I didn't find what I was looking for. I called my fried Ian and he was the one to give me the bad news: "You can't do that on iMovie" he said... and that was the moment when I thought: " FAIL!!!" so I asked: "Do you know with what program I can do multiple videos on one"
He said FinalCut and I heard a little voice in my head ( in this case it was my brother Andre's voice) saying: "iMovie sucks, use FinalCut" so that means that I have to ask Ian for the program, learn how to use it and do it again so I can uploaded on Youtube... Oh my. what an Odyssey. O.O

Nevertheless, I have to say I had lots of fun recording the guitars on Garageband, it's an easy song, but really fun to play at the same time, so I don't regret anything I did. :)

Here is the song so you can have a preview (Check it out Coach Love) the video is kind of funny

"I'll be your mentor in your way to become a Rockstar!"

What? Haha... I thought the same thing, I don't know how can someone make you be successful in the music industry, I know some people may help with advices and stuff, but this guy, Tom Hess, makes you believe that is totally possible, and achievable with his help... look www.tomhess.net He is so persuasive, but that's a good thing I guess, I saw his videos and they are really good, he is a really good teacher.
That helps me a lot with my project because part of it is getting better at my playing, and I think his videos can help me, I got excited so it made me play during the whole day, that's what I need, motivation, motivation is what I need, since I'm not with my band here in Florida I need to get reasons to feel that I have to get better, and that I can be successful in the music world.
So here you go, I highly recommend it, so check it out... it's worth it

A new week

What's up guys? How are you doing in this new week? well, I'm glad to tell you that I am as a matter of fact feeling better :D cool right?
Also, I want to show you this song, a classic, which has been in my mind lately, and not only because it is an amazing song, but also it might just be the one song I record with my brother, which would be my "masterpiece" per se, the one with cd quality sound.
I'm setting up my mic. today to practice singing this song, to hear if it fits my pitch or not, even though my voice isn't in great shape because, as you may know, I was sick last week.
I'm doing it anyway, hehe....I enjoy it
Among other news I want to say that I'm working on finding the perfect sound, but it's so hard to find; I've tried a million different types of amps, distortions, preamps on my computer, also with my amp and different distortion pedals...yet nothing that entirely pleases me.
I'm kind of worried that I might not accomplish the goals I set for my Wise project, I think I need help :s

See you later

Can You Believe that I'm still not feeling so well, I'm starting to get scared, I should go to a doctor of something, but whatever, who cares when you're having a good time like I am.

Yesterday, I recorded a cover on garageband, a really nice, simple, and yet effective program to use, I nailed it the first time, recorded a video and posted it on youtube, I had a blast! I've learned probably 6 songs this week!! I'm happy about that. I'm starting to learn some really cool stuff! this give me reasons to be excited about the future.

Let the Sound Speak by itself!! Here we go....

Let The Flames Begin!!!

Do you know what this means? It may be not mean a lot to most people you know... just a computer some speakers, and a guitar. But to me, this means ROCK & ROLL. Why? Well it is a Mac (best gear to record) it's not mine but I have it so who cares? The little red and black thing you see at the left of the computer is my Line6 Interface which is AWESOME, it comes with this software called Gearbox which comes with tons of different distortions and effects for microphones, guitars, bass, and piano, and to complete this beauty, some good speakers for recording too. Tomorrow I'm probably recording a cover and posting it on Youtube. So I got a little piece of heaven in my room, I also want to share with you guys, the fact that this is a personal goal for me, since I'm a very messy person, getting my room in optimal conditions for my project was a great experience, I feel comfortable being in my room now, it sounds kind of sad, but before I never felt comfortable on it, so I completely reorganized it to the point where I now feel comfortable.

I'm still not feeling shipshape haha, but I hope I get better.

I'm going to leave you guys with a perfect song, it really is and is also the origin of my title.
This is Paramore with Let The Flames Begin Live.

Homesick!!!

Is not only the Floridian band, A Day To Remember, second album title: Homesick, it is the way I feel right now as well.  I've been sick and stuck in home during this week, I didn't go to school on Tuesday nor Thursday, which happens to be today. Being like this is not very pleasant I must say, but hey, it happens and I'm just hoping I get better.

Even though I'm sick that hasn't stopped me from achieving this week's goal, which is practicing a lot guitar to see if I can come up with something cool, I've been trying to write good songs lately, but I'm not entirely happy, with I've come up with. I'm planning to create my "little own studio" in my room, which is basically setting everything that I need, and organize myself to catch-up with recording, I bet is going to be pretty sick ( Do you get the pun?) Oh my, Oh my this is getting to me...

Finally, and to end this blog entry I want to share with you guys what I found on Tuesday. Rockonomics, is the name of the article, which talks about how the whole rock industry works, I found it amazingly interesting, and I'm almost done reading the whole thing, which was about 70 pages long, which is A LOT for an article. You guys should really check the Intro out, I find it mind-blowing.

See You later, and I'm hoping to get better. :)

D.O.N.E :)

Today Ian and I finish the video :o I had to wake up at 7 AM on a Sunday, I´m so tired, I never wake up that early on a Sunday. I got to his house and we immediately started working on the video: The first thing we did was record the narrators voice. I brought my Interface, we installed it to his mac and directly recorded it on iMovie like my brother told me, then we did some voice-overs of the voices that didn't sound clear on the video, syncing wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, the actors just had to make the effort of imitating their voice as similar to the video as they could. Then sound effects, this took longer  to synchronize and was a bit more complicated, Finally we put the soundtracks on the video, the songs worked perfectly, everything came out so well. We finished it completely at noon probabbly.... Everything. I'm so glad and proud, we are soo winning that competition! :)

I wish I had a camera during the whole project, I'm asking Vivi if I can borrow a camera she doesn't use anymore, for my wise experience, I want to have memories of everything!

See you Next week

Lights, Camera, Action!!

Today is Thursday, The sun is coming down and it has been a good day for the Spanish class team.
Everything has been going how planned, everything is  on schedule, and everybody has contributed so much. The video was not easy to make because it´s supposed to be one long scene for each chapter (we are doing two chapters) which contains different scenes in different places. To do this we used bed sheets to make a huge screen, we used a projector located behind the sheets to eliminate the "shadow" factor, and finally use a slide show, which let the video go from one scene to another, in an easy, creative, and "pretty" way per se.

So we did that and recorded the first chapter today, Ian, the cameraman and video editor did an amazing job, the actors were completely flawless and they did it in no time. We got one huge step out of the way today, now we just have to get the second chapter over with tomorrow, and go to Ian´s house on Sunday to put the music on it, record the narrator´s voice, do some voice-overs, and of course sound effects.

I´m exited because everything is working out well, better that what I thought .

So... we´ll talk later...Bye

Second week in WISE!

As you may know, I´m working on a video for my Spanish class. I´m doing the sound including music, sound effects, narrator´s voice, and voice-overs. Yesterday I worked with my girlfriend Viviana, picking out the songs that sound right for the video, there´s a lot of Harry Potter on it, she´s obsessed, but I have to admit that they sim to feet pretty well with the story, although we won´t be sure after everything is recorded at the time of editing.

Besides that, today I´m going back to school at three because we are going to set the stage and other factors that I have to be involved with because they will help me with setting up the sound. The team is planning to record on Thursday and Friday, ( We are using some of the CBTV gear by the way) and Sunday would be the day of editing.

The team and I are going to be working on the video during this whole week so is going to be a pretty busy week, I just want everything to come out just fine and the video to be awesome. :D
