And.... Got it!! haha!

Well yeah, I got the job, yesterday I went to the warehouse in hialeah, I got a quick interview and started working that same day!! I worked five hours, I had to go yo jungle island to set up the sound for a conference. It was cool, but it is a harsh job, it's not easy really, and I have to learn a lot, I really hope that this job is the key for me to get more into this world and make someting out of this business

My project is coming to life.

Today, I recieved a call from a company named Arpi Group, they set up all types of events, from a small conference to a big important party. They want to interview and I might just get a job! I'm not sure of how everything is going to work if they give m the job, the interview would be on thurday and I am really excited. I hope everything works out well and we'll see what happens

Just A Bit Of Trouble

Well today, I had to talk with Ms. Munoz, my mentor, about the presentation, settle when she would be free, and when I would be free as well. I could basically do it any day, but she has had kind of a bad year, she had surgery and a lot of personal problems that have been reasons why she has been absent; she told me that teachers only get 10 days a year free and from that point on they don't pay for each day you miss, and she was getting in trouble already so she said no during school, but that she could do it whenever after school. I had to go to Coach Love and tell him, of course he wasn't too happy about it, I understand, but I feel kind of useless in the situation, since I could not interfere in the schedules of two grown, independent adults who are also my teachers. So yeah that wasn't exactly of my satisfaction, but there's nothing really that I could do. I have a lot of things going on right now, and I have to get them n order..... QUICKLY

Cyber Meeting

Today I had an online meeting with my friends that make up my band in Venezuela, it felt really good I must say, we talked about the future, our new projects, and what's the new style we are aiming for because we were tired of the same type of music that we have been doing for years and we wanted something new, something that would make us get inspired again and hope for success in the future, and since the drummer is moving to the U.S we are going to have more of a chance. We decided to put more of a rock n' rollish style to the band but keeping it modern and fresh. All of us got really excited, and we are going to be together this summer, so maybe we could accomplish really cool things.

Last Days Of Wise

I know I've said it a couple of times now, but I have to insist that I get more and more nervous as we get to the end of the project, of high school, and a big part of our lives. We have to start thinking of our presentations because we have to sing up this Thursday, today Coach Love gave us his presentation, and of course it was flawless. I'm looking forward to do something like that with a lot of vivid moments like he did. I am also going to guide myself with the outline of his project that he gave us, the only bad thing is that my mentor and I aren't going through the best times with the loss of our friends, so we really haven't talked a lot about Wise, but when we are feeling better we will make everything up.

awful day

hey there, I'm sorry I'm not writing a lot today, but it has really been one of the worst days in a long time, I could sit here and talk about the concert and everything, but this blog is supposed to be to write about my experience and how I'm feeling at the moment I'm writing it. So Today there is nothing to be said, just that life sometimes is unfair for innocent people

A Day To Remember Concert!

Today is a concert that I was waiting for, as the title of this blog post says it is a A Day To Remember my friends, the story of me and this band is a little weird, because I usually never listen to this specific kind of genre, in fact, I would probably dislike it, but this band has something I swear haha. Is like that " I don't care what you think" kind of attitude, you can tell that they make music just because is what they love the most and they are not willing to follow any pattern or fashion, that is why I respect them and admire them you could say, so yeah, I'm really exited for the concert, hoping to have fun and why not learn from their style to see if I get inspired. So I'll write tomorrow and tell you how it all went. :)

I Can't Finish This Song

It sometimes happens, when you are just blocked out and can't finish something that you already started, well yeah, that is what is going on with me and "the song" that's the way I call it, since I can't even find an appropriate name for it. The song is basically done, but it is just not right yet, and I've been seriously working my butt off to get to finish it, but I have been feeling a lot of pressure lately. There is a lot of stuff going on. Graduation is closer than what I can even imagine, and I have to admit that I'm kind of scared for the future, thinking about college and all that business makes me really nervous, and not only that we are heading the last lap of the WISE race, and I have to make an effort to pull it off and come up with an awesome presentation.

The Best Band In the World

Yeap! that's right, know which is the best band in the world, I have mentioned it before, and it's called the foo fighters Why? because their originality, their creative music, stage presence, and attitude makes them unique and great. I just saw a youtube video of them, they are making a "garage tour" across the U.S where they literary call fans from the fanclub and ask them if they could play in their house garage and they play for only 50 people  how awesome is that? the movie of their history is coming out soon, Those are the little things that make a band the best!

Finishing Some Details!

As I mentioned before, I was writing a song with my brother last week, but we didn't get to finish it because he had to go back to Los Angeles, what a shame I know, but I've been working in little details and composing some second and maybe third guitars, these things even most people don't really appreciate them, are in fact what make a song unique and professional, it doesn't matter what genre we are mentioning, the little details are what make a song special, so I've been trying to do my best on that, Influences i would maybe say they are a combination of the Rock & Roll Style of the greatness of Foo Fighters, combined with aggressive and fast riffs of bands like trivium, one of my favorites, I'll show some videos of both, mix it all together, and you'll get what I'm saying.

Hi There!!

Well, Today is April the 5th and I have to say that is incredible how time past by, I can't believe that we are on the last couple of weeks of WISE already, and so close to graduation, and with my main project done already, the part that's in my mind now is the presentation because I have to admit that, in English, I'm not the best speaker, but I can pull it off, the only thing that scares me is to manage to give a 40 minute presentation, which is a long time up there, even though a lot has happened in my Wise project, is hard for not a very good speaker express and tell the story of everything that happened during 40 minutes, so I have to get well-prepared for that, I have some ideas already.

Vocals!

Well today, lets say I tried to record the vocals for the song, but it is always the hardest part because I am not a singer, I spent like 4 hours trying to get it right, but my voice could not keep up with it anymore, so let's say I have like 60% of the vocals of the song done, but tomorrow I have to finish it, I'm kind of nervous to be honest but I am sure I can do it

Guitarss

Today I Recorded the Guitars for All I want. We Spent 4 hours in the studio, we used the Fender Amp that was there and it sounded pretty well, the song is coming out much better than what I thought! it's considerably a pretty easy song, but we spent a lot of time on it focusing in every little detail that the song has and recording like the original song. Unfortunately my camera wasn't working  so I don't have a visual record of it, but I have the audio for sure :D

The Real Deal!

I'm writing this week even though it is Springbreak because I am, in fact, working on my project on vacation because I am a good little dubbie. Today I recorded the bass guitar for the cover that my brother and I are doing. We don't own a bass guitar here in Los Angeles, so Andre (my brother) had to borrow it from a friend. We did not have a problem in the recording process, my brother spent something like 15 minutes setting up the sound and I nailed it in less than half an hour while my brother's girlfriend was video recording the whole thing. We spent the rest of the time doing the EQ of the bass until we found something that we liked, the song is sounding pretty well, up to this point everything is perfect.
We rented the Studio of the Art Institute, (which is where my brother studies) to record the guitar's there with a Fender amp, it's going to be great.

L O S A N G E L E S ... :D

I'm writing this from the from the west coast of the country, I'm in my brothers apartment already :)
I have good news, We finished the drums!!! Can you believe that?? like in two days? I think it's crazy! we are doing si well, we are having fun, and everything will turn out very well! this is going to be a short journal because we have to get to work, hes going to teach me how to use pro tools on my mac, and EZ drummer so I can record cool stuff when I am by myself as well.

Spring Break :D

Robots & Music??

Yesterday I went to FIU with my other brother because I had a problem to fix. Afterwards I had to stay there with him because he had to finish a project for his robotics class. Him and his group had to presented in a video, so he asked me to do the video for it, and it turned out to be great! To this date I think is one of the best projects I've done for Wise, my brother told me today that everyone, including the teacher. So I am pretty glad, I'm trying to upload it to youtube but it won't work. I promise I'll show you somehow because I love it haha, See you Later.

Practice For Next Week.

Hey hey! so, I decided I'm doing All I Want for my cover, so this week I'm practicing, A LOT!! Since I'm playing every instrument of the song ( the drums are midi, but I'm technically doing them as well). I'm changing the tuning of the song because I tried to sing it the original way, but I cant reach those high notes, so I changed the tuning to drop D, and now I feel comfortable singing it. I'm kind of nervous I have to admit, but my brother is great at what he does, and my sure that together we are going to make this sound really well. :)

Hi Guys!!

What up?? New stuff happened.... (doesn't it always anyway)
First, Friday's show happened, it was amazing, everyone seemed to like it. I played three acoustic songs in Spanish. My girlfriend recorded it so I will be uploading a video soon of the performance.
Also, Saturday's Concert happened, I liked a lot, there are very good local bands and people should support them. Especially I liked two ska bands that simply destroyed that stage. I t was crazy, I interviewed some bands and basically asked how did they get to play in that battle of the bands, how did they prepared for it and what are their expectations now that they've played in such an important show. They thought it was a great opportunity, not only because of the prize. (1000$ or hours in a recording studio) but also because people get to know them and they get to show their band. I was a great show which I think helped me a lot with the project.

This Weekend. L.A :D

I love recording covers!

So here I am guys! It is a day before Friday's show and I decided to chill about that a little!
I decided to do this cover of Bring Me the Horizon ( it's a little heavy) but I hope you enjoy it!
The process? The same as last time. I recorded the sound on Garageband, with the track of the original song and different tracks of me playing the cover. I'm trying to make them sound better each time by trying to find better a distorion, a better sound. I think I'm doing a pretty decent job so far, but I can't wait to go to Los Angeles, and take my covers to a whole new level. After that I think I'll be working on writing some new songs for my self and record them.

I also want to tell you about this week's homework that was due today. I reviewed and interview that I conducted some time ago, like in January, to a film producer Tom Alexander, owner of Alexander Productions located here in South Florida. A film producer and a Music Producer would have pretty similar lives so I decided to use it & it really helped me a lot! he is a really nice guy

Here is the video It never ends by Bring Me The Horizon

Practice. Practice. Practice.

So today is Tuesday, is a new month, and what I've been doing is practicing for a little show I have on Friday. I usually don't get nervous until just before the show, I'm confident of myself on the guitar, but the pickle for Friday's show is not only that I'm going to sing as well, it is also the fact that is an acoustic set, meaning that if I make a mistake singing, I'm out of tune for a little moment or something it will be noticeable (BIG TIME!!) so that's why I have to practice, practice, and practice, especially because my voice isn't in great shape since I got sick :(   But I'm working so everything goes exactly the way it's supposed to be on Friday.

Also I'm tryuing to decide (still) for the cover I'm recording in LA on spring break. At the end I think I'm going to go with All I Want by ADTR, but I'm not a 100% sure yet!

See you later

Schedule To Rock.

HeyHeyHey! This is my last journal for the week and I wanted to tell you guys that I have a little "project" if you want to call it like that planned. I'm going to 3 concerts of really cool bands and I think that would inspire me for my project. So I'm going to their concert with a different perspective, I'm writing a review on them so I will pay attention to every little detail and I will try to interview them actually.

The Bands I'll see are:

A Day To Remember (they are everywhere lately)
Bring Me The Horizon
Rise Against

And Finally next Saturday I'll be going to "The Next Big Thing" a concert in the venue Revolution where some of my friends are playing.

See Ya later!!

LA In Two Weeks Baby!!!

I'm very glad to tell you that I will be going to Los Angeles, California for this Spring Break. There I will be recording with my brother a song ( which I still don't know) but I can assure It will be awesome. I'm practicing a lot and am very excited for the future.

Also I have I want to tell you that I am ( Well, I hope I will ) finally going to be taught about MIDI Drumming (which is creating fake drum beats on the computer which are supposed to sound real) My friend Jose Jankunas and I had a conversation on the phone about it, he gave me some advice on different programs and we came to the conclusion that EZ Drummer is the best for my actual situation. We will be meeting soon to get more into detail and maybe start the lesson on the program.

Acoustic Set

This is the Acoustic Guitar that my friend Juan Diego let me borrow :D its pretty a cool guitar if you consider its price, he got it just for a hundred dollars!! I don't know how he managed to find that deal, but that's nice. I haven't written on my blog this week, so I'm going to tell you the best stuff of my week on 3 separate posts one for today, another one tomorrow, and finally the third one on Sunday.

Well I want to tell you about my experience on the acoustic guitar! I am convinced, I'm buying one, I almost have all of the money already. I did not remember how cool it felt to play acoustic! and its really cool to help you sing along with the songs! I tried to record Slipknot's Snuff, the best acoustic song by the band in my opinion, but I sincerely don't know what happened, it sounded like if I had recorded it from my phones mic. I tried and tried to see what happens and I could not do anything about it! I called my brother and we could not really figure out without him being present what was going on, so either I have to figure it out my self, or get help on that from someone else.

F.A.I.L!

God... I had a fail moment today, so this is what happened....
I decided I wanted to record a new cover of the song Misery Business, by one of my favorite bands, Paramore (The song is pretty well-known actually).
I recorded the guitars first over the original track on Garageband, I recorded two separate guitar tracks, each playing exactly what both guitars play on the record, meaning that it would sound way more professional, but in order to make a video to upload on Youtube, I would have to record two separate videos of me playing each part and then put it together... and that's where it got complicated.

I used iMovie to record both videos (Again, I recorded two clips showing exactly what I played for that guitar track) I thought there was some sort of plug-in that put to clips on one screen (just one video) but it didn't, I looked on Youtube for tutorials, on websites, and nope, I didn't find what I was looking for. I called my fried Ian and he was the one to give me the bad news: "You can't do that on iMovie" he said... and that was the moment when I thought: " FAIL!!!" so I asked: "Do you know with what program I can do multiple videos on one"
He said FinalCut and I heard a little voice in my head ( in this case it was my brother Andre's voice) saying: "iMovie sucks, use FinalCut" so that means that I have to ask Ian for the program, learn how to use it and do it again so I can uploaded on Youtube... Oh my. what an Odyssey. O.O

Nevertheless, I have to say I had lots of fun recording the guitars on Garageband, it's an easy song, but really fun to play at the same time, so I don't regret anything I did. :)

Here is the song so you can have a preview (Check it out Coach Love) the video is kind of funny

"I'll be your mentor in your way to become a Rockstar!"

What? Haha... I thought the same thing, I don't know how can someone make you be successful in the music industry, I know some people may help with advices and stuff, but this guy, Tom Hess, makes you believe that is totally possible, and achievable with his help... look www.tomhess.net He is so persuasive, but that's a good thing I guess, I saw his videos and they are really good, he is a really good teacher.
That helps me a lot with my project because part of it is getting better at my playing, and I think his videos can help me, I got excited so it made me play during the whole day, that's what I need, motivation, motivation is what I need, since I'm not with my band here in Florida I need to get reasons to feel that I have to get better, and that I can be successful in the music world.
So here you go, I highly recommend it, so check it out... it's worth it

A new week

What's up guys? How are you doing in this new week? well, I'm glad to tell you that I am as a matter of fact feeling better :D cool right?
Also, I want to show you this song, a classic, which has been in my mind lately, and not only because it is an amazing song, but also it might just be the one song I record with my brother, which would be my "masterpiece" per se, the one with cd quality sound.
I'm setting up my mic. today to practice singing this song, to hear if it fits my pitch or not, even though my voice isn't in great shape because, as you may know, I was sick last week.
I'm doing it anyway, hehe....I enjoy it
Among other news I want to say that I'm working on finding the perfect sound, but it's so hard to find; I've tried a million different types of amps, distortions, preamps on my computer, also with my amp and different distortion pedals...yet nothing that entirely pleases me.
I'm kind of worried that I might not accomplish the goals I set for my Wise project, I think I need help :s

See you later

TIme To Shred!!

Can You Believe that I'm still not feeling so well, I'm starting to get scared, I should go to a doctor of something, but whatever, who cares when you're having a good time like I am.

Yesterday, I recorded a cover on garageband, a really nice, simple, and yet effective program to use, I nailed it the first time, recorded a video and posted it on youtube, I had a blast! I've learned probably 6 songs this week!! I'm happy about that. I'm starting to learn some really cool stuff! this give me reasons to be excited about the future.

Let the Sound Speak by itself!! Here we go....

Let The Flames Begin!!!

Do you know what this means? It may be not mean a lot to most people you know... just a computer some speakers, and a guitar. But to me, this means ROCK & ROLL. Why? Well it is a Mac (best gear to record) it's not mine but I have it so who cares? The little red and black thing you see at the left of the computer is my Line6 Interface which is AWESOME, it comes with this software called Gearbox which comes with tons of different distortions and effects for microphones, guitars, bass, and piano, and to complete this beauty, some good speakers for recording too. Tomorrow I'm probably recording a cover and posting it on Youtube. So I got a little piece of heaven in my room, I also want to share with you guys, the fact that this is a personal goal for me, since I'm a very messy person, getting my room in optimal conditions for my project was a great experience, I feel comfortable being in my room now, it sounds kind of sad, but before I never felt comfortable on it, so I completely reorganized it to the point where I now feel comfortable.

I'm still not feeling shipshape haha, but I hope I get better.

I'm going to leave you guys with a perfect song, it really is and is also the origin of my title.
This is Paramore with Let The Flames Begin Live.

Homesick!!!

Is not only the Floridian band, A Day To Remember, second album title: Homesick, it is the way I feel right now as well.  I've been sick and stuck in home during this week, I didn't go to school on Tuesday nor Thursday, which happens to be today. Being like this is not very pleasant I must say, but hey, it happens and I'm just hoping I get better.

Even though I'm sick that hasn't stopped me from achieving this week's goal, which is practicing a lot guitar to see if I can come up with something cool, I've been trying to write good songs lately, but I'm not entirely happy, with I've come up with. I'm planning to create my "little own studio" in my room, which is basically setting everything that I need, and organize myself to catch-up with recording, I bet is going to be pretty sick ( Do you get the pun?) Oh my, Oh my this is getting to me...

Finally, and to end this blog entry I want to share with you guys what I found on Tuesday. Rockonomics, is the name of the article, which talks about how the whole rock industry works, I found it amazingly interesting, and I'm almost done reading the whole thing, which was about 70 pages long, which is A LOT for an article. You guys should really check the Intro out, I find it mind-blowing.

See You later, and I'm hoping to get better. :)

D.O.N.E :)

Today Ian and I finish the video :o I had to wake up at 7 AM on a Sunday, I´m so tired, I never wake up that early on a Sunday. I got to his house and we immediately started working on the video: The first thing we did was record the narrators voice. I brought my Interface, we installed it to his mac and directly recorded it on iMovie like my brother told me, then we did some voice-overs of the voices that didn't sound clear on the video, syncing wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, the actors just had to make the effort of imitating their voice as similar to the video as they could. Then sound effects, this took longer  to synchronize and was a bit more complicated, Finally we put the soundtracks on the video, the songs worked perfectly, everything came out so well. We finished it completely at noon probabbly.... Everything. I'm so glad and proud, we are soo winning that competition! :)

I wish I had a camera during the whole project, I'm asking Vivi if I can borrow a camera she doesn't use anymore, for my wise experience, I want to have memories of everything!

See you Next week

Lights, Camera, Action!!

Today is Thursday, The sun is coming down and it has been a good day for the Spanish class team.
Everything has been going how planned, everything is  on schedule, and everybody has contributed so much. The video was not easy to make because it´s supposed to be one long scene for each chapter (we are doing two chapters) which contains different scenes in different places. To do this we used bed sheets to make a huge screen, we used a projector located behind the sheets to eliminate the "shadow" factor, and finally use a slide show, which let the video go from one scene to another, in an easy, creative, and "pretty" way per se.

So we did that and recorded the first chapter today, Ian, the cameraman and video editor did an amazing job, the actors were completely flawless and they did it in no time. We got one huge step out of the way today, now we just have to get the second chapter over with tomorrow, and go to Ian´s house on Sunday to put the music on it, record the narrator´s voice, do some voice-overs, and of course sound effects.

I´m exited because everything is working out well, better that what I thought .

So... we´ll talk later...Bye

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Second week in WISE!

As you may know, I´m working on a video for my Spanish class. I´m doing the sound including music, sound effects, narrator´s voice, and voice-overs. Yesterday I worked with my girlfriend Viviana, picking out the songs that sound right for the video, there´s a lot of Harry Potter on it, she´s obsessed, but I have to admit that they sim to feet pretty well with the story, although we won´t be sure after everything is recorded at the time of editing.

Besides that, today I´m going back to school at three because we are going to set the stage and other factors that I have to be involved with because they will help me with setting up the sound. The team is planning to record on Thursday and Friday, ( We are using some of the CBTV gear by the way) and Sunday would be the day of editing.

The team and I are going to be working on the video during this whole week so is going to be a pretty busy week, I just want everything to come out just fine and the video to be awesome. :D

A Day To Remember "All I Want" OFFICIAL Music Video

Just so you have an idea of the type of music I'm aiming for.
Song of the week: All I want- A Day To Remember

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Not quite what I expected, Still works though.

The Spanish video project was not exactly what I expected. The video was for a county competition and one of the rules said that the video couldn't be edited :( but I still have to pick the songs for each part and put them according to each corresponding scene, so thats something; also I have to say that we really are editing the video, ( shhh!!) but not as much as we had planned. We are still recording to a computer the narrators voice, and I'm still rerecording the voices that may not sound well when first recorded into the camera, my friend Ian is going to help me with that. As I told you yesterday my brother helped me a lot finding out how to accomplish this taskt; I am going to use a Line6 Toneport Interface (A device to record vocals or instruments into the computer) to record the narrators voice and overdubs. Finally the last thing I'm telling you about tonight is that to edit the video Ian and I are using Imovie from mac, so right now I'm going to watch a tutorial on the apple website of how to edit sound using the software.

See you later!

Let's Get It Started!! (8)

As you can see at the top of this (AWESOME!!) blog, my dear friend, today is Saturday, meaning that I haven't written in the past two days and important stuff has happened. First, I got a Mac, it's my friend's but it was his old laptop so he didn't really use it and he said it was okay for me to borrow it. Why a Mac? because it runs pro-tools, the best software to record, and not only that software, it has a bunch of other applications that could really help me throughout the project, especially  because my laptop is not in the best conditions, per se. So I just got one big obstacle out of the way. I took care of that on Thursday, Friday I found my first project to work on in my WISE experience. It is a video for my Spanish class, which I offered to help with the sound. I'm not sure yet how I am going to do it. I called my brother who is a Music Producer to ask him for help, but I don't want to talk to you about it yet because I'm calling him today again to clarify some things that I'm still confused about. Tomorrow I'll get into more detail about that, so I'll leave you with suspense. Goodbye now...

First Day of Wise!!!

Yesterday was the first official day of Wise, I have to admit, I'm terrified, I have no idea of what's going on and I don't want to fall behind. I'm kind of a messy person so I'm expecting to work on that flaw with my Wise experience. Anyways, yesterday Coach Love gave a very motivational speech about Wise and a lesson about how the program works; I realized it was a little more complicated than what I thought, so I have to do my best in order to do well. I want my project to be on music production, it's not clear for me yet, but I know I want to learn how to record music and show a song that I recorded on my presentation after 18 weeks, how? I'm not sure, and that's what I have to get working on because to record a song is way harder than what people think it is. I have to start moving now and find connections that can help me :)
